Lynn founded The Richards Company in 1973 and has served clients in Texas, across the United States, as well as various other countries. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in History, and also earned his M.S.F.S. in Financial Planning from the Graduate School of Financial Sciences at The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Lynn complemented his education in his profession by obtaining the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations, also through The American College, and the Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) designation from the National Association of Estate Planning Councils.
