Mr. Colvard has focused on areas involving bankruptcy and/or commercial litigation for approximately 27 years, emphasizing litigation aspects of commercial bankruptcy proceedings and sophisticated collection processes on behalf of institutional lenders. Initially serving as law clerk for the Honorable Bert W. Thompson, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Texas from 1979 through 1980, thereafter with Martin & Drought, P.C., Mr. Colvard is skilled in all aspects of bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 11 Debtor representation, counsel to Trustees, acting as Trustee in Chapter 11 proceedings, representation of creditors committees, and debtors-in-possession. Recent significant proceedings within the bankruptcy forum include, confirmation of separate bankruptcy plans involving related debtors in a major South Texas restaurant franchise operation. Prior thereto, Mr. Colvard was involved in the liquidation of a world-known rig manufacturing facility, resulting in a substantial dividend to unsecured creditors, a federal forfeiture process involving a Chapter 11 Debtor engaged in fraudulent transaction claims involving international entities. State Court creditor work recently concluded with successful collection of one hundred percent payment of a secured lender's claim, including default interest, costs, and attorney's fees, numerous collection cases and complex commercial litigation in various state and federal court venues throughout Texas. Current endeavors include, participation in complex bankruptcy/Federal Court litigation involving substantial, investor fraud schemes against third parties.
